fun run

I took my son to a fun run this weekend. Even though I didn't run with him, here are a few of my favorite things:

1. spending time together

2. he got free tickets to a pro basketball game

3. watching his excitement over the tickets

4. hearing his plans about going to the basketball games with his friends

5. free parking

6. he had a good run time

7. seeing him finish at half court in the basketball arena

8. a nice morning together

9. home in time to get some other things done

10. making priceless memories

18th birthday

My son's 18th birthday was a bittersweet event for me. It turned out to be a nice weekend. Here are a few of my favorite things:

1. nice mexican food dinner with mother in law

2. great steak dinner with parents, nephews and son's girlfriend and her sister

3. shopping for just the right gifts

4. finding the perfect cartoon DVD

5. giving the journal I've kept for 18 years

6. seeing baby pictures my mom gave

7. watching nephews look at the baby pictures

8. baby hat from photos given

9. great great grandfather's hat given

10. his reactions to gifts-priceless!

morning speed work

I joined a group bike ride this morning. They were doing speed work. Their regular pace was my speed work! But here are a few of my favorite things:

1. riding with people better and faster than me makes me better and faster (so they say!)

2. late morning is warmer than early morning

3. safer riding with group

4. more enjoyable riding with others

5. learning techniques and tips

6. they are nice to stay back/wait on me

7. at least there is a pit stop!

8. and a "cut off" so that I didn't have to do the full amount

9. getting in a good ride

10. hearing that it really does get easier
