We were able to visit the Texas Renaissance Festival School Day. On this day, the festival is only open to school kids and their educators. It is less rowdy and no alcohol on this day. It makes for a very pleasant day stepping back into the Middle Ages. Here are a few of my favorite things:
1. the jousting tournament
2. my youngest nephew wearing the same colors as the Spanish knight
3. both my nephews got to participate in sword school
4. the knight in shining armor who kept "scaring" people (folks wanted a picture next to the armor, but they did not always know there was someone inside!)
5. the lady selling toy catapults who kept shooting marshmallows at my nephews-they almost caught them in their mouths!
6. the little girl selling candied nuts-she was so cute and could speak as if in the middle ages (good day m'lady)
7. pictures on the executioner's block
8. the knight who announced the tournament-we saw him a number of times throughout the day and he recognized us and was always friendly to speak to us
9. discount tickets, free parking, allowed to bring our own lunches
10. learning can be fun!!

I love the Renaissance Festival too! It's a great place for a family outing on those school days.

I love the school day idea - the KC Renn fest never really had that.
